OUR HISTORY

We are a netball club for girls and boys aged from 9 years.

We are a not-for-profit organisation run by a committee of volunteers. We encourage players and parents to become involved in the club and support our players. Parents can join the committee, coach a team, become a team manager or get involved with fundraising.

Coatesville Sporting Association commenced in 1990 and was started by an enthusiastic group of parents whose children attended Coatesville Primary School.

For many years the children (particularly the girls) had been organised in weekend netball and softball by a teacher by the name of Eric Scott. Mr Scott not only registered, coached, managed and transported players, but some also believe he financed a lot of his teams. When the girls graduated to secondary school they continued to play under his guidance and he was responsible for much of the talent shown in the netball and softball arena in the district. It was the impending retirement of Mr Scott that led the parents to establish Coatesville Sporting Association, without which, weekend sport for their children looked like coming to an end.

The parents catered for boys and girls, establishing Basketball and T- Ball, in addition to Netball & Softball. Over the years, outstanding players in all of these sports developed from their initial participation playing for Coatesville Sporting Association. In more recent years, due to the changing demand from the community, the club has focused mainly on participation in netball.
